{"id":3346,"date":"2016-01-29T20:46:21","date_gmt":"2016-01-29T20:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/?p=3346"},"modified":"2016-02-01T16:59:13","modified_gmt":"2016-02-01T16:59:13","slug":"recipe-window-cookies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/?p=3346","title":{"rendered":"recipe: window cookies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3361\" title=\"FullSizeRenderfg\" src=\"http:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/FullSizeRenderfg1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"405\" srcset=\"https:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/FullSizeRenderfg1.gif 540w, https:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/FullSizeRenderfg1-300x225.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/>We call these &#8220;Window Cookies&#8221; and they are my younger son&#8217;s favorite cookie. \u00a0I make them at Christmas and Valentine\u2019s day. \u00a0The center shape will change with the holiday but the cookie stays the same&#8230; so you can be creative.\u00a0 This dough can be made with powdered sugar instead of regular and then altered some, but I think the crispness of the sugar cookie recipe makes this cookie taste the best and holds the jam better. \u00a0Have fun with this recipe as you can use all different flavors and colors of jam and you can cut out all different shapes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>INGREDIENTS:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a02 sticks salted butter<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a01 cup sugar<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a01 egg<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a02 teaspoons vanilla<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a01 tablespoon buttermilk or cream<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a03 cups of flour<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00be tsp of baking powder<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0dash of salt<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0One jar seedless jam, raspberry, strawberry, pear, peach, or whatever flavor you prefer.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a01\u00bd cups powdered sugar, placed in a powdered sugar container.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DIRECTIONS:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Beat butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and buttermilk together until smooth.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Slowly add flour, baking powder, and salt to the wet mixture.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Make two slabs of dough, slightly flatten and wrap with parchment then with saran wrap.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Put in fridge for 2 hours or overnight.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Roll out dough and use with either circle or square cookie cutters.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0For each cookie you will have\u00a0a bottom that is not cut out and a top that you cut a shape out of.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Place cookies on cookie sheet in a 350 degree preheated oven, until they are slightly browned on the edges.
