Sometimes we connect with others in a way we never thought possible\u2026 and sometimes that connection is with a special pet. \u00a0My Kitchen Girl\u2026 my best friend, Callie passed away. \u00a0It has taken me a few weeks to write about her passing. \u00a0She was my constant companion. \u00a0If I moved to another room she was right by my side. \u00a0In the kitchen she peered at me from under the kitchen table, watching my every move. \u00a0If I was baking and mixing then she was right at my feet, waiting for her turn to lick the beaters! \u00a0Yes, it was always my treat to her for watching over me.<\/p>\n
My sweet girl Callie was unlike any other dog I have had. \u00a0She was huge\u2026 gentle\u2026 soft\u2026 calm\u2026 sweet\u2026 watchful\u2026 and loving. \u00a0If\u00a0I was upset or sick she would know. \u00a0She would find me and\u00a0become my lap dog, sitting next to me on the sofa, her head perched in my lap. \u00a0Her presence calmed me down and made me\u00a0feel better always. \u00a0When I walked into the house she waited\u00a0for me and when I left she looked at me as if to say don\u2019t worry\u00a0I\u2019ll be watching the house, but come home soon.<\/p>\n
As a puppy Callie had two operations on both knees, I spent\u00a0many nights laying with her on a pile of quilts stroking her soft ears and keeping her calm. \u00a0We became the best of friends\u00a0then and I know she spent the rest of her life giving back to me\u00a0tenfold. \u00a0At night she continued to expect to sleep with us, so\u00a0my 110 lb Great Pyrenees\u00a0nestled herself between us most\u00a0nights. \u00a0Many mornings I would wake up with that sweet face
\nresting on my pillow. \u00a0I can\u2019t explain how much I miss my girl.<\/p>\n
I will have more dogs, but I am not sure I will ever have a friend\u00a0like Callie. \u00a0She was my big polar bear, my little cookie, and my\u00a0dearest friend. \u00a0If you are not a dog person you will not understand my sadness and the many tears I have shed. \u00a0She\u00a0was not just a dog to me\u2026 she was my girl, who I am forever grateful to have had in my life.<\/p>\n
