{"id":2851,"date":"2013-09-18T20:53:58","date_gmt":"2013-09-18T20:53:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/?p=2851"},"modified":"2013-09-18T20:53:58","modified_gmt":"2013-09-18T20:53:58","slug":"recipe-grilled-open-face-sandwiches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/?p=2851","title":{"rendered":"recipe: grilled open face sandwiches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2860\" title=\"photo\" src=\"http:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/photo12.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/photo12.gif 720w, https:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/photo12-300x225.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After a morning at Evanston&#8217;s Farmers Market, I had fresh arugula, heirloom tomatoes, and sweet onions in my bag. \u00a0I had also picked up a loaf of fresh bread, prosciutto, and sliced mozzarella from my favorite small Italian grocery store, Poeta&#8217;s in Highwood. \u00a0It was a gorgeous day and several people were stopping over, so I decided to make an open face sandwich with all my purchased goodies.<\/p>\n<p>Heat, clean, and oil your grill.\u00a0 Cut your loaf of bread in half and drizzle it with olive oil.\u00a0 Place the bread open side down to crisp and grill, being careful not to burn.\u00a0 Take your bread off the grill and set aside.\u00a0 Finely dice several cloves of garlic and sprinkle over bread. \u00a0Next I cut up all my goodies from the morning shopping trip. \u00a0I sliced my tomatoes and onions, washed my arugula, and snipped and diced some fresh basil from my potted garden. \u00a0I sliced a ripe avocado (drizzle lime juice over the slices to prevent browning) and sliced the prosciutto and cheese.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2861\" title=\"photho\" src=\"http:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/photho.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/photho.gif 720w, https:\/\/feastandflowers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/photho-300x225.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now it&#8217;s time to have fun!
